our story

An Inter
generational Business

Our business stands as a testament to the transfer of knowledge, and values across generations. Rooted in a rich history, our journey began with an adventurous George B Hacon who pedalled North on his pushbike in 1915 and laid the foundation for what has become a thriving generational business.

The tale of resilience and growth travels through time, with each generation contributing its share of hard work and vision.

While the faces and names may change, the core principles of our business remain unchanged. The family members of today, equipped with contemporary insights and innovations, aspire to carry forward the legacy as successfully as their predecessors.

Meet the Leadership:
Peter (Sos) & Hannah Hacon

Peter (Sos), as a 4th generation beef producer, not only carries the torch of family tradition and agricultural expertise but is also passionate about Granada Beef, its livestock and pastures, and his team. His deep understanding of beef production in the north is complemented by a pursuit of knowledge, always looking at different ways to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Beside him is Hannah, who brings her passion and keen analytical abilities to the forefront. Having studied Agribusiness, Hannah adds a strategic and insightful perspective to the business. Together, Peter and Hannah form a formidable team, steering the ship with a balanced focus on family values, sustainability and the welfare of their herd creating a holistic vision for Granada Beef.

Next Generation Involvement:
Preserving the Family Legacy

The Hacon family narrative extends beyond Sos and his wife, Hannah. Though their daughter Harriet has ventured abroad, their two sons, Lachlan and Angus, actively contribute to the business. Immersed in daily operations from a very young age, they ensure that Granada's legacy continues for generations. Lachlan who has been working in the North, recently graduated from Marcus Oldham College where he studied Agribusiness, and Angus who has just finished Year 12 plans to work at Granada and the North for a few years before pursuing tertiary studies.
