Dedication to Producing Exceptional Beef:
A Commitment to Quality
We are passionate about producing top-quality cattle. Through careful breeding programs and ethical practices we are committed to deliver quality beef.
Our commitment to quality extends to our breeding selection process, where both genotype and phenotype play crucial roles. We focus on Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs), an advanced breeding techniques to enhance desirable traits in cattle, ensuring that they meet the highest standards.
At Granada, efficiency is fundamental to our operations. To ensure optimal productivity, we employ a multifaceted strategy encompassing routine whole herd preg testing, regular bull testing, and ongoing disease monitoring. We are particular in our bull selection process and recognise the significance of nutrition in herd well-being. While our native pastures boast high quality, we monitor diligently and provide supplementation when necessary.
Our commitment to livestock welfare is also paramount. We encourage our team to adopt a low stress approach when working our cattle, and emphasise the importance of fostering weaner management practices appropriate to the north.
Introducing Granada's Wagyu:
A New Chapter in QuALITY Beef PRoduction
Building on a legacy of quality Brahman cattle production, Granada has embarked on a journey of diversification by introducing Wagyu to our herd. The decision is underpinned by our appreciation for their remarkable fertility levels, and the Wagyu product, renowned for its premium characteristics and exceptional taste experience, aligns seamlessly with our commitment to quality.
We have been very fortunate to have some wonderful mentors who have played a pivotal role in helping us navigate the intricacies of Wagyu breeding. Despite being relatively new to this space, we are thoroughly enjoying the learning process and the opportunities it brings
Horse Breeding:
We love our horses!
In addition to cattle breeding, we enjoy breeding our own stock horses. Horses are an important part of our day-to-day life here at Granada. Whilst not always, we prefer to work our cattle with horses. We feel it educates the cattle better and fosters a less stressful environment. It also becomes an educational opportunity for the horse. The stock camp, with their expertise, does an exceptional job of training our young horses, creating a reliable horse plant for the station's daily activities and for competition. Each year the crew are encouraged to get a young horse going and are mentored by senior members of our team to do this in a kind and safe manner.
